There is also a big polmique dtail on this, some argue that the old key with bne are better than the new key with rosewood. The handle is in one pice saddle and the key is a beautiful dark wood bne. The '93 has a few Difference compared to today. I am fortunate to possder 2 Indeed, a "rcente" of 2007 and a "vintage" of 1993. I'd be playing it right now if I weren't typing this review. And, to top it all off, Steve Vai uses this exact guitar (or atleast his own JEM7VWH named "Evo"). It was constructed very well and the quality is of great quality =D Only thing they missed was a string was off tune by a few cents and the action was kinda high.
It'd be cool to have two different tone knobs and two different volume knobs some times. But you can shield it pretty well and easily, and take it to the shop and get action set pretty low. The single coil could've been shielded better. Doesn't hinder any shred (or mine atleast), yet the vibrato come out well on it. I think I might take up two pages if I keep this up.anywho. (not shiny, but not dull)Įxtremely nice tone. And the way the whammy bar goes in, you just push it in, now screwing it. I love the floating bridge system in conjuction with a locking nut. I love the monkey grip =D (the hand grip at the top of the guitar body) So hot they burn to touch! The single coil has a good tone (not sure what kind of pickup it is, but it's DiMarzio). It's at the bottom of the guitar just to the right of the strap knob. The output jack is at a location so that you just put it through the guitar strap, and then slip it in. It uses Ibanez's JEM neck, and is thin, which is good. To start this endless list, I'll first say the neck. I've always delt with my local shop for wiring and major stuff. There's only so many words that can explain it if you've never experienced one.įrom what I've heard don't expect great customer service from Ibanez although I must say I've never had to find out myself. A lot of this guitar is in the neck (and trem if you're a wanker ]). I already explained this however this guitar can with a proper setup can have awesome action (no matter how silly you want to go in either direction), tone, and playability. That just takes away from the wood for no good reason IMO. Truth be told the only thing I have a problem with is the "monkey grip". I'm glad it wasn't named a vai guitar or anything similar because I just couldn't buy it then. Strat alder body, 24 fret ebony neck, hot but not steril pups, good floating bridge, and believe it or not I wanted it painted white. Although I very much appreceiate Steve Vai's contribution and talent I was looking for specific things on my next guitar.
